Hackney autism group launches new website
A group of autistic Hackney residents and carers working with the local council and health services has set up a website to help more people get involved.
The Autistic Hackney website www.autistichackney.org was launched last week to promote the work of the Autism Alliance user and carer engagement group.
The 20-strong group is working with the local Autism Alliance Board to draft a Hackney Autism Strategy.
The aim of the strategy is to improve services used by autistic people and make the borough more 'autism friendly'.
The group has broken new ground in user involvement, successfully pushing for the board to include four autistic and two carer representatives.
The board is also co-chaired by an autistic Hackney resident.
