Have your say on Hackney's post-16 strategy for disabled young people
Hackney Learning Trust is currently consulting on a draft special education and disability (SEND) strategy for disabled young people aged 16 and over.
The post-16 strategy was developed in response to new requirements under the Children and Families' Act which extends education, health and care plan support to some disabled young people up to the age of 25.
Parent-carers frequently tell Healthwatch Hackney they are unhappy with the lack of choice and suitable provision to support their young people in education and into employment once they turn 16 and leave school.
People can comment on the plans via the Hackney Local Offer website here.
HiP, Hackney's independent parent-carer forum, is holding a workshop on post-16 provision at the Pembury Community Centre on 14 March to enable local parents to find out more and have their say.
