Homerton hospital in top ten for A&E performance
Homerton Hospital was among the top ten best performing hospitals for managing accident and emergencies waits in September.
The hospital saw 95.6% of patients presenting at its accident and emergency (A&E) department within four hours against a national target of 95%.
Hackney’s local hospital is currently ranked seventh in England for A&E for performance.
Nationally, 89.7% of people attending A&E departments in September were seen within four hours, down from 90.3 % in August and 90.6 % a year earlier, NHS England data shows.
The figures suggest Homerton Hospital is entering the winter period in a stronger position than most others trusts although pressure to make £13 million savings in 2017-18 are likely to put the hospital under significant pressure.
NHS England has pledged that most trusts would be compliant with the 95% target by March 2018 and fully compliant by the end of March 2019.
