NEL STP responds to our questions on radical NHS plans
Managers driving plans to radically shake up NHS care across north east London have responded to questions from Hackney residents.
All questions were raised by local residents and patients attending our recent What Future Our NHS? public meeting on 16 February.
The north east London Sustainability and Transformation Plan (NEL STP) team provided written responses to the questions submitted as part of our report on the public meeting.
Healthwatch Hackney organised the meeting to enable local people to find out more about the plans which are likely to result in £22bn cuts to the NHS nationally and up to £600m cuts in north east London.
Disappointingly, the NEL STP representative on the night was unable to answer most questions posed by the 80-strong audience.
The questions aimed to elicit more details about the proposals to share with local people.
NEL STP has provided reasonable detail in response to a question about the evidence base for new care models and suggests they will be relying heavily on using physicians' assistants to plug GP vacancies.
However there is little detail in responses to other questions including how they intend to cut £19 million from prescribing budgets in north east London by 2020/21.
